Last night was the APALSA End of the Year Banquet!
A lot of people showed up, including Dean Michaels, the food was great, and people seemed to have a good time, so I think it was a success. We made the announcement of the new officers, so after a couple more last minute events, this year is going to be over, and my reign as President will come to an end.
Overall I think that this year was pretty amazing for APALSA. We got to go to Seattle for the NAPABA Conference for free, had a very successful food sale, went to eat at a lot of awesome restaurants, and got to share lots of exciting memories as a group :-)
Of course, with the banquet, it also means that finals are coming around the corner and this school year is coming to an end as well (thank goodness, because I am so done with this semester!)
Last week, Justice Ginsburg from the U.S. Supreme Court came to Moritz and it was quite the event! I was lucky enough to actually be in Saxbe where she was speaking, and wow. I mean, I already had a lot of respect for her as a Supreme Court justice, but getting to listen to her speak really made me respect her at a whole new level. She is such an influential person in US history, regardless of whether the average person knows it or not, and she made me really proud to be a woman and to be in law school! Even though I feel like attorneys often get the short end of the stick (especially in comparison to doctors), we definitely have the ability to make a difference in our country, and even in the world, and it made me realize that it's not always how smart you are, but compassion can take you a long way too!!
Hail to the dictator! May a thousand flowers bloom!
