My very first blog entry.

So because this blog is called "The Little Asian Guinea Pig", I figure I may as well talk about my own little Asian guinea pig, Kyu-. For those who don't know, "kyu-" means "squeek" in Japanese. I named him Kyu- because that is all he did when I was at Meijer trying to decipher if I wanted to buy him or not (and yes, it was hilarious because I bought him at the self checkout. Who buys guinea pigs at self checkouts?? Apparently, I do.). Anyways, when I first bought him he was so tiny that he fit in the palm of my hand!!! I also thought he was a girl until he got sick and I took him to the vet and they told me "yeah... he definitely has a penis." Oops! Sorry Kyu-. Lucky for him, he definitely has the parts to prove it and they are HUGE.

Now that we are done talking about guinea pig privates, I might as well talk about my other guinea pigs too. Kyu- is actually my 5th. Here is a brief history.

#1 Freckle.
Life span: 3 years.
Cause of death: forgot to bring him back inside after leaving him outside to sun bathe.
(Please forgive me, I was 10)

#2 Boko
Life span: 1 month
Cause of death: he had an upper respiratory infection but I didn't know it at the time. He was sick when I got him as a birthday present from my friend Jackie.

#3 Kuro
Life span: 4 years
Cause of death: her teeth grew too fast and she couldn't keep them trimmed down. I made the mistake of taking her to a non exotic animal vet who claimed he knew what he was doing and he just cut her teeth with dog trimmers. She died of shock the next day. I should of sued his butt, stupid face. (yes, I am still pretty bitter)

#4 Chacha
Life span: 4 years
Cause of death: I decided to switch her bedding to the expensive stuff that is supposed to be good for your piggy because pine chips and cedar can cause breathing problems. However, instead, it gave her guinea pig lice (which interestingly does not transfer to other small animals like rabbits) which slowly ate away at her appetite and she died while my dad was trying to comfort her. I was at Keeneland that day with some friends and got the call from my mom when she passed. I cried in Mai's laundry room for an hour before I could even drive home. I loved her a lot.

The first day of work at the law firm I used to work at in Lexington, I told the secretary who trained me about the above history. She probably thought I was a weirdo freak. FML.
